Simple awareness is often the catalyst for serious change. Anti-bullying is a big movement because it matters. But, it often began with an effort to show students that bullying has ramifications. The assemblies show what happens when bullying is present and the corrosive environment it fosters. But, how can it be changed? What can leaders do to really amp up the effects of this groundbreaking movement?

The anti-bullying school assemblies may present some of the ideas in stopping bullying. The best ones keep their eyes and the ears on who is listening intently, and who has the voice to foster the change everyone is hoping for.

Anti Bullying Programs

The anti bullying programs for schools will primarily inform and educate students about the realities of bullying. But, there may be a sense that some students in the assembly could be teen ambassadors. Leaders should be seeking local leaders in the community. Local leaders are respected. They are not government-based. Leaders do not have to fit a mold. Leaders could be seen as leaders in a small group, such as the drama club. They could be a mentor to a group. They could have great grades. There is a whole group of children out there who have leadership skills and a small little audience. But, they often do not know how to grow their voice. They are seeking change and they want it. But, what do they do about it?

Teen Ambassadors and the Future

Teen ambassadors may be the most valuable piece to the whole puzzle. Hands-on efforts from those involved in the school will be a powerful tool to stopping bullying right then and there, and can be a great extension to an anti bullying assembly. Adults are unfortunately often found in a position where their words fall flat because of them being adults. Few things are more effective to stop bullying than another student saying this is wrong, and holding a firm authority in the community.

The pursuit of new teen ambassadors drives future progress and improves the massive effort to overhaul and diminish bullying. Every teen can make an incredible difference. Adults realize that, despite their best efforts, they can’t be 13 to 18. They have authority, but they often lack relatability. This is why the voice of a positive teen can change the landscape.

Teen ambassadors hold the power in middle school anti bullying programs. They hold the power to make things better and to, as we have seen many times before, save lives. Teen ambassadors may be the only ones to really and firmly stomp out bullying.
